Korean Market to Be Opened to MediaSite Software and Services
- Conglomerate to Sell Korean-Language Versions of MediaSite
Products -
San Jose, CA, Dec. 13, 2000 - MediaSite, Inc., the global
pioneer in the development of software and applications for converting
video into an interactive medium, today announced a partnership
with LTi-Korea, Inc., a Seoul-based conglomerate that will re-sell
MediaSite's products and provide professional services to customers
throughout Korea.
The partnership will enable MediaSite to reach customers in Korea's
broadband and wireless telecommunications industries, as well as
Korean Internet service providers, application service providers,
television companies and government agencies. MediaSite's first
Korean clients are LOCA, which will resell to nationwide clients;
enStream, which will resell to the Korean military and police; and
The Fusion, which will resell to educational institutions. The partnership
expects to realize revenues of more than $15 million over the next
three years.
LTi-Korea, a 15-year-old company involved in the R&D and sales
of systems for streaming and wireless content delivery network management,
will be offering the newly developed Korean-language versions of
MediaSite's Publisherä and WebFinderä products, making MediaSite
the first company to offer fully functional Korean language versions
of both its indexing and video navigation tools.
"This partnership, coupled with the release of the Korean versions
of our products, is extremely significant for a couple of reasons,"
said MediaSite Chief Executive Officer Vinay Mehra. "First, Korea
has the highest per capita Internet usage rate worldwide and already
has the broadband infrastructure to support MediaSite's applications.
In addition, experience shows that the Korean market in general
is quick to accept and adopt new and innovative technologies. For
instance, they're already significant users in the wireless arena."
"MediaSite's technology fits perfectly into the dynamic and fast-moving
Korean Internet and broadband space," said Agnes Kim, LTi-Korea's
chief executive officer and founder. "A sure sign of its rapid acceptance
is the fact that we've already received purchase orders from the
South Korean military and police academy, both of which will deploy
the technology in e-learning applications over broadband networks."
