MediaSite Releases New Tools for Building Custom Interfaces

- Search Development Kit 1.0 Easily Integrated into Existing Web Sites -

San Jose, CA, Dec. 12, 2000 - MediaSite, Inc., the global pioneer in the development of software and applications for converting video into an interactive medium, today announced the release of a powerful new tool for allowing producers of online video content to create their own customized user interfaces.

MediaSite's Search Development Kit 1.0 ™(SDK) allows companies with their own in-house Web design capabilities to quickly and easily integrate MediaSite's advanced video search capabilities and customize the look and feel of their Web sites. The SDK builds on MediaSite's advanced video search engine, WebFinder™, to simplify its integration with current applications. Featuring fully supported and documented XML data transfer and XSL presentation, the SDK enables customers to quickly create highly functional video searches on their Web sites.

"The release of our SDK 1.0 represents a significant milestone in the evolution of MediaSite's technology," said Krishna Pendyala, the company's Chief Technology Officer and Vice-Chairman. "By building on our core video search and navigation technology, this tool kit allows many of our clients to create customized video searches in-house."

Among the many benefits of MediaSite's new product are the following:

  • Because XML and XSL are quickly becoming the industry standards, respectively, for data transfer and presentation, the SDK can be used universally.

  • Customers can get their Web sites up and running quickly simply by changing sample templates, or can easily add functionality to existing sites through MediaSite's open Application Programming Interfaces.

  • MediaSite's Administration Tools allow non-developers (including writers and video content administrators) to easily control where their video is shown. For instance, selected videos can be highlighted on individual pages through MediaSite's Featured Video tool to increase viewers' interest.

  • Because the SDK enables the implementation of multiple interfaces, customers can easily control the look and feel of multiple video searches within their Web sites. Similarly, they can extend their audiences by putting video searches on multiple Web sites.

  • With the SDK, customers own and retain total control over their metadata.
