MediaSite Releases Enhanced Version of Digital Video Indexing
Tool
- Publisher 4.1 Offers "Single-Box" Real-Time Encoding and
Indexing Solution -
San Jose, CA, Dec. 11, 2000 - MediaSite, Inc., the global
pioneer in the development of software and applications for converting
video into an interactive medium, today announced the release of
MediaSite Publisher 4.1, a greatly enhanced version of its
renowned digital video indexing tool.
The new product, which will be integrated into customer applications
and partner products immediately, provides customers a "single-box,"
real-time encoding and indexing solution. It also features a number
of dramatic enhancements over its predecessor, Publisher 4.0,
including:
- Real-time speech recognition technology, which can be used
to add speech information to video or to synchronize closed-captioned
data with audio tracks
- The ability to encode to more multiple streaming formats simultaneously,
including combinations of RealVideo, Windows Media, MPEG-1, MPEG-2
and AVI
- Support for indexing from a digital video file, including streaming
formats like Real
- The availability of automation interfaces for developers who
want to expand on Publisher's automated features
"We're very pleased to offer this product to our customers and
partners," said MediaSite Vice-Chairman and Chief Technology Officer
Krishna Pendyala. "All of the new features are geared toward clients
who need to put video on the Web very quickly, including corporations
and entertainment media. And because they can now do it with only
one machine, Publisher 4.1 saves users money."
The new features add to the significant advantages Publisher already
held over competitive products, including the ability to automatically
index video based on closed captioning data; the Editor tool, which
allows users to edit metadata associated with their video, including
changing and combining segments; and the Highlights tool, which
enables faster-than-real-time viewing of video content. In addition,
Publisher customers retain total control over their own metadata.
