MediaSite Names Vice President of Sales
- Former Eastman Kodak Executive to Head Rapidly-Expanding
Global Force -
PITTSBURGH, Nov. 29 - MediaSite, Inc., the global pioneer
in developing software and applications for converting traditional
video into an interactive medium, today announced the appointment
of industry veteran Chris Thigpen to the post of vice president
of sales.
Thigpen will provide strategic and tactical guidance to the company's
sales managers and account executives, a rapidly expanding force
distributed throughout the United States, Canada and Mexico.
"With his advanced respective business skills and proven track
records in implementing corporate growth programs for reputable
international firms, Chris will be a tremendous asset to MediaSite's
management team," said Vinay Mehra, MediaSite's chief executive
officer. "MediaSite will rely on Chris to help shape, position and
advance the company's domestic and global expansion strategies."
Bringing 16 Years of Sales Success to the Table
Thigpen, who has over 16 years' experience in sales, sales management,
marketing and business development, joins MediaSite from eMotion,
Inc., a Virginia-based company that sells media asset management
software. As eMotion's director of sales for North America, Thigpen
increased the company's annual revenue by 500% in 1999, developed
its sales force and established its technical and sales leadership
in the marketplace.
Previously, Thigpen served in a variety of capacities at Eastman
Kodak for over ten years, most recently as director of digital sales.
In that role, he achieved the highest revenue and unit placements
for the U.S. and Canada for the first two quarters of 1998, receiving
that year's Circle of Excellence in Management Award. Previously,
Thigpen held positions as the company's regional network sales manager
for North America, product marketing manager, marketing education
center program manager, and New York state network sales account
manager. A 35-year-old Louisville native and graduate of the University
of Louisville, Thigpen began his sales career at IBM in 1985.
"Helping to lead and build an organization that is positioned on
the cutting edge of interactive video is a tremendous opportunity,"
said Thigpen. "We're in a position of technological leadership.
Our challenge is to effectively communicate that value proposition
to potential clients, and I'm more than confident that we're up
to the task."
