MEDIASITE, CHANNELSEEK AND NY1 REACH SYNDICATION DEAL
MEDIASITE SIGNS ON AS CHANNELSEEK SPONSOR WILL DISTRIBUTE NY1 TV NEWS CONTENT
New Orleans NATPE 2000
(January 25, 2000) - MediaSite, Inc, the leader in web-based video indexing and search
technology, reached an agreement today with Channelseek, the leading Internet video
portal, and NY1, a 24 hour television news arm of Time Warner Cable. The agreement allows
Channelseek to provide searchable access to NY1 video content. As part of the deal,
MediaSite will become a promotional sponsor on the Channelseek News Channel. In exchange,
MediaSite will provide daily data feeds to Channelseek of NY1 television news content,
allowing Channelseek visitors to search and stream local NY TV news stories. This is part
of a larger agreement through which MediaSite will syndicate NY1 TV news content to other
agreed upon websites as well. NY1s video search page is hosted by MediaSite.
In addition to searching and streaming video, MediaSite services also allow NY1 to
license video clips using a V-commerce feature built into the service. Now visitors
to Channelseek will have the ability to search, browse, play and purchase NY1 video news
content from that portal as well.
Tom Britt, CEO of Channelseek stated, "Channelseek is pleased to be working with
MediaSite. This relationship will provide increased value and information for the end-user
and a compelling promotional vehicle for MediaSite's streaming content. I look forward to
a mutually beneficial, ongoing relationship as we both grow."
Ron Quartararo, VP, business development for MediaSite, added, "This is a
win/win/win situation for all sides. We plan on using this model to expand our content
syndication business
with our other content providers. We are looking forward to a long lasting strategic
partnership with Channelseek."
Jeff Polikoff, director of operations at NY1 added, "Channelseek adds a new
gateway for Internet users to stream our video content. Combined with MediaSites
advanced video search capabilities, and Channelseeks portal, we can now offer even
more users the ability to watch the news they want, when they want, as well as purchase
video clips with MediaSites V-commerce feature."
