MediaSite Unveils New Headquarters
Grand Opening Event Highlights
Growth of Technology Companies in Pittsburgh

Pittsburgh, PA—December 15, 1998—MediaSite, Inc., the leading developer of software, systems and services to create searchable, Web-based video and audio Media Sites for Intranets, Extranets and the Internet, will unveil its new headquarters at a grand opening event this evening highlighting the growth of high-technology companies in Pittsburgh.

At the event, Carnegie Mellon University president Dr. Jared Cohon, Pittsburgh Mayor Tom Murphy and MediaSite president and CEO Mark Juliano will discuss high technology in Pittsburgh, and reflect on how this sector is now an integral part of the ever-changing face of the City. In addition, Dr. John Shepherd of Duquesne University will unveil a new partnership which will use MediaSite technology to offer the world’s first fully searchable video courses over the Internet as part of Duquesne’s Multimedia program.

"The grand opening of our headquarters is part of the larger story of high-tech companies locating in Pittsburgh and thriving here," commented Mark Juliano, president and CEO of MediaSite. "With the help of the Mayor’s Office of Economic Development, we were able to secure a prime downtown location. And, we were able custom-design our space to include the types of amenities that are necessary to attract and retain talented employees."

"I am pleased to welcome MediaSite to their new location in Downtown Pittsburgh," said Mayor Tom Murphy. "Their commitment to the City of Pittsburgh proves that Pittsburgh is open for business, and that we can successfully retain and attract good, high-tech companies that will provide good job opportunities for our community."

About the New MediaSite Headquarters

MediaSite was the first company to move into the newly renovated Ewart Building and is occupying the entire eighth floor. The 6,600 square foot MediaSite space contains numerous conference areas, a product demonstration room and an eat-in kitchen. The ground floor contains a fitness center for employees. The nine-story, 60,000 square foot Ewart Building was originally built in 1892 and is listed in the National Register of Historic Places.

Applications of MediaSite Technology

Founded in 1996 as a spin-off of Carnegie Mellon University’s Office of Technology Transfer, MediaSite's MediaSite System (tm) focuses specifically on the management of video and audio on Intranet, Extranet or Internet-based Media Sites. Leading television and film production companies as well as corporations and government agencies are currently using the MediaSite system to build a repository of thoroughly cataloged analog or digital video information which can be placed on Media Sites.

By using MediaSite software and services to build searchable video and audio Media Sites, news broadcasters can locate existing video clips quickly for re-airing. Film production companies can search dailies from a remote location via a secure Extranet. Corporate customers can capture, re-use and share strategic video-based knowledge over their Intranets to give their organizations a competitive advantage. Stock footage companies can offer searchable video over the Internet.
