MediaSite’s Media Asset Management Software
Integrated with Oracle8 (TM)
MediaSite provides powerful, network-based video management system on Oracle8 enabling organizations to unlock the value of strategic video assets

Pittsburgh, PA—June 29, 1998—MediaSite, Inc., the leading developer and supplier of integrated solutions for constructing and using network-based, searchable digital media libraries, announced today the integration of MediaSite’s MediaSite Digital Video Library System (TM) with Oracle8 (TM), the industry’s leading database for network computing from Oracle Corp. (NASDAQ: ORCL).

Unlike other media asset management systems that rely on simple annotations or titles for search and retrieval, the MediaSite System enables users to search on the actual video transcript and on images such as faces (derived from image understanding), to pinpoint information within the video.

With MediaSite, video can be effectively used in applications across a variety of industries. For example: news broadcasters can quickly find existing video clips, increasing their quality and depth of programming; film production houses can easily locate archived video, increasing productivity; stock footage companies can sell content over the Internet, increasing their revenues and customer base; and corporations and government agencies can provide video-based training across an intranet to all employees, saving time and enhancing the quality of learning. No other system on the market today can deliver faster, easier, or more precise access to the video resources in an organization.

"By combining the power of Oracle8 technologies with MediaSite’s media asset management solutions, MediaSite now offers organizations a comprehensive media management solution," said Jim Steiner, senior marketing director, Oracle Database Server Division. "Enterprises depend on Oracle to manage their business assets at low cost with superior performance and reliability. MediaSite offers our customers an end-to-end asset management solution that applies leading technology to the need to manage and quickly locate the growing amount of video and other media in organizations across a wide range of industries."

By combining the performance and accessibility of the Oracle8 Enterprise Edition with MediaSite's state-of-the-art MediaSite System, video assets can be analyzed and indexed in real-time, with the resulting indexed information being instantaneously available to users who are browsing the library.

"MediaSite listens closely to customers, and the integration of Oracle’s leading database and server products with MediaSite technology is the latest example of MediaSite’s commitment to users," said Mark Juliano, president and CEO of MediaSite. "With Oracle integration, MediaSite customers can now combine the MediaSite System with the proven performance of Oracle8 Database."
