<cerywyn@yahoo.com> writes to USS Galileo <galileo@ucip.org>:
The Galileo had been towed without further incidence by the Allentown
to DSE. Ktryna had kept to herself, but now that they were docking at
a space station she left her quarters. The Galileo crew was met by
LtCmdrDolan, a security officer.
"I must apologize for the informality of the greeting, but it could not
be helped. The XO has taken a good many of the crew out on an urgent
mission....the CO has been detained..."
The LtCmdrs voice betrayed his unease. He was not being completely
honest. Ktryna was immediately on gaurd, however she said nothing.
The last few weeks had been quite hectic, she could simply be
overreacting. But as she and the others followed the LtCmdr across the
promenade, Ktryna noticed the shifting gazes of passerbys and other
officers. The tension was palpable in the air. The LtCmdr was wary to
say the least. He led them to quarters and then quickly disappeared.
Ktryna stepped into her quarters and looked around. It was typically
sparse. But hopefully they wouldn't be here long. She stayed but
briefly in her room before heading out for a look around. Curious by
nature she had to see what was around her. Everywhere she went, she
got odd glances. She checked her appearance to see if all was in
place...puzzled by the demeanor exhibited. It was most unusual.
Everywhere she went people stepped warily out of her way, or looked
askanc at her. And she picked up something unusal . . . a sense of
apprehension ...not quite fear but surely no trust. Something was
definitley wrong. She made her way around the Promenade one more time,
more certain than ever. When she spotted the SEC officer following her
discreetly from behind she made her way back to her quartes.
++taps++Ktryna to LtCmdr Davis.
++taps++Davis here...what is it?
++taps++I need to speak with you.
++taps++ acknowledged. Im on my way.
Davis arrived a short time later. She could tell he was tired. The last
few weeks had taken their toll on all involved. That was clearly
evident.
"What did you need me for Ktryna?"asked Davis as he stepped
inside.
"Well, I have been out on the promenade for some time...I wanted to
test the accuracy of my suspcions."
"And?"The tone in his voice was troubled.
"Something is definitely wrong here. I suspected it when I realized
LtCmdr Dolan had not been completely honest with us. But it was
confirmed when I went out. The crew here, as are the civillians..are on
edge. There is a tension and apprehension in the air. I was unable to
discern why."
"This is a most puzzling situation" commented Davis. "Anything
else?"
"I was followed by a SEC detail. They were discreet, but...I sensed
them right away," stated Ktryna flatly.
"I see," said Davis. "I've tried to contact the CO but each
time I've
been turned away by ltCmdr Dolan. That is unusal. Ok Ktryna keep your
gaurd up, until we know what this is all about. If you see anything
suspicious before then, contact me immediately."
Ktryna nodded. "Aye sir."
Davis left after that, leaving Ktryna to query her thoughts alone. She
was always alone. She would never understand the solids. At least that
is how she felt. She would forever be different...the outsider. She
belonged neither to the changlings either....her make up as part bio
creature denied her acceptance even there. The only thing she'd ever
connected with on any level had been Beldin-Father..but her subspace
transmission to him had been denied on the recieving in. She could not
even contact him to tell him where she was. The only thing that came
close to being like her was LtCmdr' Davis' gel. She wondered....then
stood and made her way to where the Galileo was docked to undergo
repairs. Little was being done on it. Another puzzling event and one
that would no please Davis at all. She blended herself with the hull
to enter unnoticed by the guards and headed for main engineering. She
wondered if the gel would be receptive of her prescence at all.
