<OOC: Based on latest logs from Triss and Davis>
~~~~Main Engineering; deck eleven~~~~
Tar'a -- knocked on the floor due to the impact -- looked
around her, seeing the tremendous amount of damage done to most
primary systems. She had a few burns and minor superficial wounds on
her arms and legs, but nothing real serious. Slowly she got up from
the floor, wondering why the inertial damping field failed. The lack
of power must have shut down the control system. Unsteady at her feet
she wandered over to the closest chair to sit in, and tried to collect
her thoughs. It was almost as if she relived the moment of the crash,
with all its horror and devastation.
When the feeling of fainting slowly submerged, she rose from
out of her seat and sauntered through engineering inspecting all the
monitors and control panels. It seemed that most systems were offline,
including the warp drive.=20
<All stations report,> chimed it through her comm badge. Tar'a tapped
the badge with her finger tip and answered the call.
"Engineering sustained some serious damage, Sir. The warp drive coils
are wrecked, the magnetic restrictors damaged and the emergency
control system blocked the anti-matter supply. We're not going
anywhere soon. Right now we're running on emergency power. I might be
able to get the impulse engines back online, but I've to check the
area first."
<Understood. What's the status of the gel?>
"Large amount of the gel was lost when we made it through the
portal. If it wasn't for the gel we wouldn't be here talking to each
other. Right now the gel is collectively assisting in keeping life
support going. A note of warning; be careful when walking about the
ship, since the dampers are off line and the structural integrety
field isn't fully functional."
<I'll send out a message to all stations,> the Lt.Cmdr.
replied, <do you need any help with the impulse engines?>
"I can use all the help you can get me, Sir," Tar'a answered
grateful. "If we don't repair some of the systems soon we'll have
breaches all throughout the ship. With the SIF on minimal power the
entire ship could collaps."
<I've send Lt(jg) Moraine down to help you out.>
"Acknowledged, Sir."
Tar'a was busy collecting her tools when Triss walked in.
"Ah great, you're here. Let's go up to deck seven, and see if
we can get the RCS thrusters back online. We need to have main power
back online to prevent a hull breach. Time is short, so..."
"What about the warp drive,' Triss asked.
"The warp drive is totaly wrecked, and the emergency lockdown
of the anti-matter containers makes it impossible to get it working
again. She needs a major refit to come back to life," Tar'a responded
with pain in her voice.
"I see," the XO answered as she consulted some of the main
screens. "The restrictors are utterly destroyed, so even if we had
access to the anti-matter we still would need those restrictors
working."
"Exactly. We can replicate the restrictors and most of the
plasma regulators, but we can't replicate the warp coils."
They talked some more about engineering problems as they
headed towards deck seven with the TL. By the time they arrived there
they both knew what to do.
~~~~RCS Thrusters/impulse engines: deck seven~~~~
"Restricting warp drive access and rerouting all power through
the impulse engines. Standing by," Triss said and fed the information
into the computer.
"Disengaging Deuterium supply to the warp drive, activating
alternate guiding system. Activating emergency programs, and bring the
impulse engines ready for maintenance. Steady... there..."
"Tar'a, the safety protocols are ready for release," the XO
said as the screen was filling up with information as systems reported
on- and offline.
"Release safety protocols, authorisation by Tar'a Dach, alpha
two gamma six," she ordered the onboard computer while tapping in more
codes to prevent a warp core breach, and gaining access to the impulse
engine.
<Safety protocols released,> the computer replied. <Warp core
lockdown initiated. Impulse engines open for maintenance.>
"Can you install the power conditioners and replace the
isolinear ports," the CEO asked while working her tools on the impulse
engines.=20
"I'll get right to it," she replied and disappeared into one
of the jefferson tubes. Fifteen minutes later Triss reported through
her comm badge that her work was completed and both headed back to
main engineering.
~~~~Main engineering~~~~
With the help of Triss the impulse engines where back online
in less than thirty minutes. Tar'a could not have done this without
the XO's help, and they both were relieved that they were able to
prevent more structural damage to the ship with both the intertial
dampers and integrety fields restored.
"Engineering to bridge. Sir, we have main power back online
and the impulse engines seem to be working again. I'm not sure how
long we can hold them together but we're safe for at least a few
days."
<Davis here. Great job, both of you. I also have news from the
USS Allentown, they will rendez vous with us in about... five minutes.
They will assist us in getting to the closest starbase. Bridge out.>
That was great news, but Tar'a had a bit of a problem with
leaving this ship -- even if it was temporary. Triss adviced her to go
with the rest of the crew. It would be good for her to be away from a
ship that had left her with several traumatic experiences. It took
Triss a while to convince Tar'a but she finaly succeeded.
~~~~Aboard the USS Allentown~~~~
When the Allentown came in close proximity of the USS Galileo
the entire party was beamed abort, including the CEO. Everyone was
assigned to temporal guest quarters and they would be notified when
they reached the closest Starbase.
Davis had asked her to go and see a doctor as soon as they
would reach the Starbase; it was clear to her that it wasn't an order,
but more like an advice to a friend. It was then were Tar'a expressed
her sadness and wasn't really happy about loosing another captain.
"Although it was short, it was still a pleasure serving under
you, Lt.Cmdr. Davis."
"Why thank you, Ensign," the Lt.Cmdr. answered with a gentle
smile. "If I get a new Chief of engineer I hope he or she will be as
good as you," he complimented. They both exchanged a friendly farewell
and Tar'a returned to her temporary guest quarters. She would go and
see the doctor as soon as the Allentown would dock.
Sincerely submitted,
