OOC: Finally got the thing finished :-)
OOC: the only thing to note is that I did *nod* shapeshift into the
wolf form…I can’t talk to anyone other than another telepath when I do
so…and since Ktryna would definitely not remain quiet during the
encounter on the bridge….
Ktryna stood up from the Sec console. "Computer, location of Cmdr Davis
and Lt. Morraine."
"Both are on the bridge."
Ktryna tapped her comm badge. ++taps++ "Ktryna to Lt.Morraine. Never
mind coming to SEC…I’m headed to the bridge."
++taps++ Ok Ktryna.
++taps++ One more thing, I have something you both need to be aware of.
I’ll bring that file with me when I come.
++taps++ Acknowledged.
With that, Ktryna closed the comm link and walked out of security,
locking the doors as she did so. She walked down the corridor and took
the TL to the bridge.
She stepped out onto the bridge and looked around. Cmdr Davis and Lt.
Morraine were off to the side near one of the darkened consoles. She
walked up. "Excuse me…but something has come to my attention that you
should know about." They both turned and looked at her. "What is
it?"
Triss asked. Ktryna was just about to reply when Atlanta stepped out
onto the bridge, annoyance clearly visible. Ktryna was immediately on
gaurd. She considered shifting but thought against it….instead in reply
to the tirade presented, Ktryna calmly replied.
"You have access to the systems necessary to do your job. I granted the
access upon Dach’s requests earlier. As I told her, that will have to
do. As for discussing my actions with you…why should I. Neither of you
have bothered to discuss any of your plans with anyone else. You have
been full of distrust from the beginning as has she. We did not
encounter you with phasers drawn …it was Dach who approached us armed.
Cmdr Davis uniform and rank as should Lt.Morraines. …should not have
been questioned. The natives have not the technology to replicate such
things...if you will recall they were only fighting with bows and
arrows and their bare hands. If for no other reason but respect …you
should not question everything. Which has been the case. ….they have
given you no cause for the attitude displayed."
Triss interupted. "I understand where you’re coming form, Jade, but you
and Dach have been radiating very strong emotions of distrust which
Ktryna and I find difficult to ignore."
It was clear that Atlanta did not care. "We have to take every
precaution to make sure you are who you say you are. For all we
know…you were expelled from the Intrepid."
At that point Ktryna laughed. That was the very thing she had said
earlier to the Cmdr and to Triss. The thing of it was, the three of
them had no ship and no shuttle. If anyone was to be thought of as
mutinous… it would be the Galileo. The Cmdr and the Lt. had done
nothing to warrant distrust. Yet that is all they had encoutered. The
Galileo’s remaining crew had done enough to warrant suspicion. Ktryna
looked at the Commander as he spoke.
"We apologise for any misunderstanding and I am glad that you have
discussed the matter with us. In future, for the time being we will try
not to make any big decisions without including you and Ensign Dach,
however you do have to let down you defenses a little. I won't tolerate
any more fighting." He looked around to everyone "Am I making
myself
clear?"
Ktryna refused to apologize. Her actions had been warranted. She would
not apologize for reacting to such attitude as had been displayed by
Dach and Jade since the trio’s arrival….SF officers…She did however
agree nod her assent to Davis’ command.
"Good" Davis said and began to carry on with his work.
Atlanta mad her way for the door. Remembering something, she stopped
and turned around.
"Ktryna. .... Thank you for repairing the Security Console"
"It's fine" She replied cooly….
She was cut off by the comm link sounding.
"Dach to Security..to anyone. They’re coming through the door in
Cargobay 2. I need some backup down here!"
There was a sound of fighting and phaser fire…then the comm link went
silent.
Ktryna looked to the others, instinctively growing protective. She may
not have much regard for Dach but she was part of the crew now…and
whether or not the feeling was returned, Ktryna would not leave her to
the natives. She knew Davis and the others would not be far behind.
She quickly shape shifted…choosing not the form she loved so…but
instead, assuming the form of a Kzin. Kzin are much like the terran
tiger..only bipedal. Kzin are a very warlike race, and have had
numerous wars with humans, most before the formation of the Federation.
They have high strength, which is augmented by sharp teeth and claws.
They can see very well in the dark, and
have well-developed senses of smell, taste, and hearing. They stand
on average 8 feet tall, and weigh under 780 lbs. Ktryna had assumed
this form because of the fierceness of the race…and the doubted that
the natives had ever encountered such a creature. She was quite
firece. She bounded down the corridor with agileness. She could sense
the others following behind. She burst through the doors, seeing Dach
crouched behind empty storage crates and firing her phaser. Several
natives lay prone on the floor of the cargo bay. Ktryna entered with a
growl, ducking the phaser fire. She rose to her full height of 8’6
inches,( in this form,) extended her claws and bared her teeth….the
pointed canines overlapping her gums, a fierce sight. She attacked the
entering natives head on. The others entered the cargo bay doors as
she entered the melee. Ktryna fought fiercely…the Kzin claws ripping
into the natives as if they were mere ragdolls. Ktryna was constantly
ducking the phaser fire from behind her…as well as the weapons of the
natives….it seemed that the bows and arrows of the hunting party they
had encountered had been replaced by something else. Ktryna didn’t have
time to wonder where it came from….she only knew they had them now.
They were not as sophisticated as the phasers the officers had and they
were no match for the claws of the Kzin….snarling Ktryna shredded the
thin alloy when she encountered it. The most it would do is
momentarily stun…but the weapons the natives had would do no massive
damage. The natives were severely out matched…yet they came on. The
battle raged for quite some time….in the end, the few remaining natives
that could walk, carried their injured away…slinking off into the cover
of night….and left the dead behind. The officers, weary from the
battle, stood and looked at the sight and at each other. Ktryna had
followed the fleeing natives from the ship…assuring that they would not
return… Assured they would not, she returned to the ship and to the
waiting crew. It was only then that she realized she’d not been
careful in avoiding the "friendly fire." When she resumed her
human
form, she noticed quite a welt on her arm. Her first injury and she
didn’t know how to react.
OOC: Ok, this is only the battle from Ktryna’s point of view….so feel
free to log the battle from your perspective characters viewpoint.
