<<This happened way before Dach went to check out the doors>>

He crouched down outside the doors that had been tampered with. It looked

like they had been forced apart with some sort of weapon. The tricoder

indicated that the doors were structually damaged. He stood up and

turned around. He saw many pairs of faint foot prints on the floor. He

estimated about twenty or so. He stared to the horizon, the suns were

hanging low in the sky, light was dwindling. The comm badge chirped “Ensign,

report to sickbay”.

“I’m on my way Doc” replied Ruckwood. He pressed the button on his arm band

and he was beamed back aboard the ship. He rushed to the sickbay, he had

important things to discuss with the CO before dark.

He walked into sickbay. “Ahh Mr. Ruckwood, come and sit down on the

examination table.” he said happily. Ruckwood sat down on the table the Doc

was pointing to. The doctor started the examination. “So Doctor...” ,

Ruckwood said trying to start a conversation, “....I heard that the Captain

granted you your own access codes.”

“Yes” replied the Doctor “It stops people changing my program and it gives

me the opportunity to go to ‘sleep’ and ‘wake up’ when I chose.”

“That must be nice for you” said Ruckwood. “There you go Ensign. Your check

up is complete. You’ve got nothing to worry about and the wound on your head

is healing by itself. Until next time” said the doctor. Ruckwood nodded in

gratifying way and walked out. He went on a search for the CO.

The Cmdr Davis and Lt. Morraine were standing talking on the Bridge.

Ruckwood> Captain

Davis>::turns around to face him:: What can I for you Ensign?

Ruckwood> I fear that the natives may attack again tonight. They have

some

sort of weapon which emmiteds high impulses of energy. Another blast and the

doors would be destroyed.

Davis>::nods::

Ruckwood>When I was outside I found at least twenty pairs of footprints.

More may return tonight.

Davis> What do you suggest we should do?

Ruckwood> I thought I could plant motion sensors around the ship to

detect

movement. When triggered they will set off an alarm system to warn us. I

also suggest that we arm our self. As I’ve seen from your encounters they

are very hostile.

Davis>You can go ahead and lay the sensors down but I’ll have to talk to

Ktryna. I don’t think she can allow everybody on board to have a weapon.

Ruckwood nodded and left the bridge for his office.

He sat down in his chair and his terminal jumped to life. “Computer, map the

surrounding area.”

Computer> Working.

In no time at all a 3D landscape had been replicated displaying the Galileo

on the side of the mountain. Tapping a few keys the image moved closer to

the Galileo and around the side where the damaged doors were. He typed in a

command and seven yellow dots appeared on the landscape. With all the

co-ordinates loaded into the tricoder he set off to find the sensors. He

looked around the science labs. Surprisingly there was little damage

inflicted upon the equipment. The scientist he worked with before the crash

had never kept the area clean. After throwing a few things about he found a

storage box with 50 pairs in he took seven of them and stored them in a back

pack. They were quite small so they shouldn’t be that hard to hide but with

natives skills they may be found. Either way the alarm system would be set

off. Again using the arm band he beamed off the ship to his first location.

After hiding the first pair by using nearby bushes and branches he found it

quick work. It took him about an hour walking around to the locations and

hiding them from keen natives. Eventually he was finished and tired. He

beamed back aboard the ship and activated the system he created. Immediately

the alarms went off. He deactivated the system.

<Ens. Ruckwood, what was that?> Davis said through his comm badge.

“Don’t

worry” Ruckwood replied tiredly. “The sensitivity was too high. It detected

plants being blown by the wind. I’m decreasing the sensitivity so that it

will only pick up bigger objects. Ruckwood out.” He changed the sensitivity

and returned to his personal quarters. “Lights off” he commanded. It was now

time to catch up on some sleep before the natives came.
