<cerywyn@yahoo.com>; writes to USS Galileo <galileo@ucip.org>;:

Ktryna had felt frozen in a moment and then everything swirled around

her. She found the experience hard to put into words…it was like being

liquid and solid all at once…between stages of one transformation and

the next. The feeling passed as quickly as it had begun…the next thing

she was aware of was a hard sandy surface beneath her. She had an

uncomfortable feeling in her stomach that soon passed…Triss was not far

from her and looked to be feeling the effects of what ever had happened

to them a lot worse than she. Ktryna stood and brushed the sand from

her. She looked about surveying the immediate area, when Davis asked

"Ktryna, any immediate threat?" Ktryna sent a probing thought

outward

; "I'm not sensing anything in the vicinty that would cause us

harm",

she replied. Davis took out a tricorder and scanned a nearby stream,

reporting that it was drinkable. He knelt and scooped up a handful to

drink...then rose, smiling as he got up from the stream. Not my idea

of paradise. "Looks like we have our work cut out for us, " he

replied.

"Commander I’d like to look around a bit…to see how secure we are here

in this location. It is too open for my liking." Davis nodded.

"But

don’t go to far……"

Ktryna nodded stepped a few feet and then morphed into a small rodent.

Rodents were native to nearly any planet...she’d be less likely to

draw attention in this form. She scurried off thru the

underbrush….gently pushing her thoughts out as she went. The terrain

was quite dry…just scrub brush for plant life…what trees existed, were

gnarled and twisted and far from full height. She noticed little in

the way of life . She stopped and looked back…Triss and Davis were

still in sight. She scurried along the undergrowth a bit longer… then

stopped. There was something out there…more depth than the other

things she encountered. The thought pattern she encountered felt

humanoid…but was not like anything she recognized….she sensed what

could only be confusion and distrust. That did not bode well for the

stranded trio. She didn’t venture any further. Instead she headed back

to Triss and Davis. Resuming her normal shape as she approached.

"Commander. We need to find someplace other than this open area for the

night….We’re too exposed and not alone." Ktryna replied.

Davis frowned. "Are you sure.?"

Ktryna raised an eyebrow. "Of course….I did not approach them ..about

10kms from where we are now…and moving in this direction."

Davis looked at Triss.

"Definitely not my idea of a vacation." She replied. Davis

chuckled

then sobered.

"Was there anything in the direction you went off in that is

secure?"

Triss asked.

"Nope….it’s basically just flat terrain; we would be quite

exposed…especially you two. They are moving towards us from that

direction as well." Ktryna replied.

"Well then it looks like we walk that way." Davis replied. He was

pointing towards the horizon….to the south of where they were. It

loomed dark in front of them despite the brightness of the day. The

trio set off at a quick pace…eager to increase the distance between

themselves and what ever was headed in their direction. Ktryna assumed

the form of the timberwolfe she was so fond of and proceeded to scout

ahead.

Uncertain what lay ahead she moved cautiously as Davis and Triss

followed.
